Meet the Owner:
Lauren is a Lubbock native and owner of The Sporty Dog and Austin Dog Lady, Lauren has over 35 years of expertise caring for animals, while bringing her experiences to create a positive bond with each pet according to their specific needs.
Lauren graduated from Texas Tech University, is a Certified Elementary Special Education Teacher, and started working Professionally in the Pet Care Industry in June 2006, training under Top Five Star Professional Pet Companies in Dallas and Los Angeles.
Lauren specializes in Positive Reinforcement by using a gentle approach to help calm and relax each pet in her care. Lauren is also an advocate for Forgotten Friends, a Mixed Breed Rescue in Austin, where she rescued two dogs of her own, Emmitt, "EM" a poodle mix and Birdie Bleu,"Bird" a yorkie mix. Lauren was also a yorkie mama for 16 years to Chewie and Mimi, who crossed the rainbow bridge.
When not caring for pets, Lauren enjoys the many things living locally in Austin provides such as live music, hiking, swimming, avid antique and vintage collecting, cooking and exploring gluten free cuisine and spending time with family and her dogs.
